APPLICANT CRITERIA (Updated 2010-2011)
The following documents must be submitted through ERAS:
Application
- USMLE or COMLEX Step 1 (passing score required with preference given to applicants who have passed on their first attempt)
- USMLE or COMLEX Step 2 if score is available (passing score required with preference given to applicants who have passed on their first attempt)
- Official USMLE/COMLEX transcript
- Dean’s letter
- Medical School transcript
- 3 letters of recommendation (one must be a letter from a FP who can attest to your qualifications for and interest in family medicine).
- If you are not currently in medical school, a letter of recommendation must be received from the person you are currently working with.
You must have graduated from medical school within the past three years unless you have participated in a different residency within the past one year. A letter from the program director of that residency will be required.
For graduates outside the USA, the following additional requirements must be met:
- Must be ECFMG certified at the time the application is received through ERAS
- Must have at least one year of clinical experience in the U.S. prior to application being reviewed. Medical School experience does not count. Observerships do not count as clinical experience.
- A letter of recommendation from the physician(s) you worked with for your clinical experience must be received prior to application being approved or denied.
- Preference is given to applicants who will be eligible for permanent licensure in the State of Colorado by the end of their first year of residency training.
We are unable to sponsor or accept anyone requiring a Visa.
Interview information:
- Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. If the application is not received by December 1st, there may be no interview spots available.
- Interviews are scheduled from November through January
- Interviews are conducted on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with the exception of the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The second week interviews will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
- Informal dinners with residents and applicants each Tuesday evening from November 8 – January 31.
