Comprehensive Training for Physicians

The residency’s contribution to living the mission of Centura Health is realized through serving the indigent patient population in both the hospital and clinic setting. Our hospitals have benefited by the excellence of the program’s reputation, medical care and graduates who have remained in the area.

The St. Anthony Family Medicine Residency is the only training program in the St. Anthony System. Residency patients are cared for at St. Anthony North Hospital. This hospital is also the primary inpatient teaching site for the residency. This offers the obvious advantages of direct contact with patients in all areas of their care, from the emergency department to the ICU’s, floor units, and rehabilitation centers.

Many community specialists play a vital role in the teaching and consultation with the residents. The program’s faculty are involved in all inpatient cases, working on a daily basis to supervise and teach in close connection with our enthusiastic specialty colleagues. The program has an especially close relationship with the Hospitals’ Critical Care Team, a nationally recognized group of intensivists who have raised the bar of excellence throughout the hospitals.

The residency provides outpatient care in one new location at 8510 Bryant Street, Suite 200, adjacent to St. Anthony North Hospital.  St. Anthony North hospital has full-service diagnostic and support services. Sophisticated ultrasound, MRI, computerized tomography, and digital subtraction angiography are performed in the radiology suites. Inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services, a laboratory performing "STAT" procedures around the clock, speech, PT and OT services, a day surgery unit, and a cardiac catheterization lab are part of the continuum of care. Residents' "scut work" such as starting lines, and drawing blood is minimal.

We are proud of our technology advances! We utilize a proprietary website system that allows all of us to interact online, making communication and access to call schedules, rotation information, etc. easy, fast and effective. All residents are provided with state-of–the-art palm pilots.
